The Great Wall at Badalin

According to Chairman Mao, you are not a hero until you have climbed the Great Wall. Well today we all became heroes. We travelled about 50 miles north of Beijing to the Great Wall at Badalin. It is the most visited section of the Wall and provided great views in all directions. Our guide described the valley the wall was protecting as the “Fortress Valley.” The Wall provided protection from the Mongol regions to the north. The section of the Wall we visited was built in 1505 during the Ming Dynasty.
