Birds Nest & Water Cube

This evening we spent some time at the Beijing Olympic Park admiring the National Stadium known as the Birds Nest and the Olympic Pool known as the Water Cube. The Birds Nest was designed by Herzog and de Meuron. The site is layed out in such a way that it balances the ancient Chinese beliefs in Ying and Yang both to the east and west. The coloring of the facilities represents earth, fire, and water. The area is immense and awe inspiring. We spent some time just wandering around taking it all in.
