After our tour of the Terra Cotta Warriors we stopped for tea and air conditioning, not necessarily in that order. It is about a 100 degrees today and very dry. This was my first introduction to tea in China and it was quite delightful. Being able to sit, be cool, and be introduced to the infinite variety of teas and the ways they are prepared was just the break we all needed.
I started with the Yang Rich Selenium Tea which is a green tea from the local mountains. It had a pleasant if slightly bitter flavor that was very fresh. We then sampled a Lychee Black Tea that had a fruity flavor to it, and a Lemon, Rose Flower, and Black Tea combination. The flavor and method of preparation is specific to each kind of tea and the taste varies depending on which method is used..
